Data Engineer

Wego is looking for a Data Engineer to join our data team. We are a growing global travel tech company and as we scale, so does our data. Data is key to empowering our product, marketing, sales and operations teams to function effectively and efficiently. You will help our team to continue this empowerment through developing data processes as well as maintaining and improving existing ELT pipelines.

Key areas of responsibility:

• Build efficient and scalable ELT pipelines to ingest data as well as maintain existing datasets.

• Be part of the data validation process to maintain data quality and perform or automate data cleansing.

• Collaborate with stakeholders to create, maintain, or enhance data storage structure and data collection processes.

• Take on new and complex initiatives to help build data solutions to serve and address the problems and requirements of different teams.

• Research and evaluate the latest technology relating to our technical stack and plan the data roadmap for any core upgrade or migration.

Minimum experience:

• Degree holder with a technical/statistical background or inclination, in computer science/statistics/economics/engineering or other relevant field.

• Working with complex SQL tasks at an intermediate/advanced level, particularly with complex joins and optimizing large-scale queries

• Intermediate level of Python or other programming languages.

• Data cleaning, troubleshooting and development of ETL/ELT pipelines.

• Experience in data modeling or design for database/data warehouse.

• Stakeholder management and business requirement gathering.

• Planning and managing workload to efficiently deliver projects on time.

Ideal experience:

• Worked with cloud based data solutions e.g. Google Cloud, AWS, Snowflake etc.

• Experience with integrating different data types and sources into cloud platforms.

• Use of scheduling tools such as Airflow and implementation of CI/CD pipeline.

• Use of templating language such as jinja2 or liquid

• Strong problem-solving skills and analytical mindset

• Knowledge of data testing and validation frameworks
