Backend Engineer, Mid Office Systems

The Role:

As a Backend Engineer in the Mid Office Systems team, you will contribute to the development and maintenance of back-end systems essential for booking management. You will work on automating processes, developing reliable back-end services, and integrating systems to improve operational efficiency and support Customer Support functions.

What you will be working on:

You will focus on automating manual processes, designing back-end services, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and integrating Mid Office systems with other Wego systems. This role includes ensuring code quality, maintainability, and testing practices to uphold high standards.

Core Responsibilities:

• Automate Processes: Streamline manual processes to improve efficiency and reduce the workload on Customer Support.

• Develop and Maintain Systems: Design and develop back-end services to enhance the reliability and maintainability of Mid Office systems.

• Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with Technical Lead, Product Managers, and Customer Support to address customer needs effectively.

• System Integration: Collaborate with other engineering teams to integrate Mid Office systems with other Wego systems.

• Ensure Quality: Write clean, maintainable code and implement testing practices to uphold high-quality standards.

Skills and experience:

Minimum Experience:

• 6+ years of experience in developing and maintaining back-end applications in a production environment.

• 4+ years of experience with back-end applications written in Node.js.

• Proficiency in at least one back-end programming language, such as Java or Node.js.

• Strong understanding of database technologies, particularly RDBMS.

• Familiarity with CI/CD practices and a focus on high-quality releases.

• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP).

• Emphasis on frequent, high-quality releases and short feedback loops.
